Durian: King of Fruits

Many of us are not familiar with this fruit, all we know is its remarkable smell. Though Durian fruits are stinky and not that appealing, let's give it a chance to reveal its wonderful and unique characteristics that made it the "King of Fruits." Durian is very popular in South-East Asian Nations because of its delicious and creamy taste. Durian belong to family of Malvaceae, a family that contains some of the healthiest and wierdest fruits and vegetables in this planet. Durian fruit looks the same as jackfruit and typically weighs one to four kilogram. It is a tropical fruit, we can harvest it from June until August. Its flesh and seeds can be eaten, usually its seeds are being boiled. Various products can be produced from this fruit like durian candies, extracts and food supplements. Others think durians are disgusting because of their peculiarity but let's now look on its different and positive side.

Health benefits of Durian:

1. Controls our blood pressure
- durians are rich in potassium, an essential electrolyte that helps 
regulate our blood pressure and heart rate.

2. Maintains our digestive system healthy
- they are rich in dietary fiber that improves and helps our digestion. It prevents constipation and diarrhoea. 
- they contain thiamine and niacin that improves our appetite.

3. Good source of minerals
- durians comprises many essential minerals such as copper, manganese, magnesium and iron. Minerals that strengthen our immune system and help on bone development.
- Magnesium and Iron can also help us to prevent and recover from stress. They can calm us and give us relaxation.

- they contain amount of sugars like sucrose and fructose that revitalize our body. These two replenish our energy to do more work.

- durians are rich in Vitamin C which helps us to fight against diseases. It also improves our blood flow and healing of our wounds.

- aside from having minerals like magnesium and iron, they also contain Vitamin B6 which helps on the production of serotonin. Serotonin is a chemical that is naturally produced by our body. It controls our feelings or emotion, making us happy, calm and stress-free.

- Durians have tryptophan, a chemical that helps us to fall asleep. So, its good for people who suffer from problems in sleeping like those who are experiencing insomia.
